Ogii Review of: Dracula by Bram Stoker

DraculaDracula by Bram Stoker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great book, I really enjoyed it. At first, I thought it was slightly slow, but that would probably fall on the fact that I know background on the whole vampire legends and all, as with most people in today’s society do, due to the different appropriations made. So therefore, during the beginning I found it slightly frustrating with Jonathan, however, for the time when the novel was first released, it would have truly been a great mystery for them. The book is very well written and easy to understand. Once you really get into the book and you arrive to the stage where the characters know of the existence of vampires, it gets quiet, not sure how to describe it, but slightly suspenseful, i guess. I love how the novel challenges the values of the Victorian Era, the conflict between Religion and Science and etc. Especially because at the time of the novels release, this was thought to be quiet a provocative piece, I believe it just adds to the greatness of the book, because it was going against things at the time, and it was daring. Although I had preconceived notions about vampires, this book truly clears up the ‘legend’, so, if anyone wants to clear that up, read the book. The story towards the women in the book, and then the way in which the male characters approach the happenings is very well in. The end action is really trilling and suspenseful! A great book!

Ogii Review of: Animal Farm by George Orwell

Animal FarmAnimal Farm by George Orwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is truly an amazing book!I love how the story throughout the book is a metaphor for the rising of communism at the time. The way in which it is written is great! For the reason that it is actually a children’s book, and it has to be written simply in order for younger ages to understand, any person above the ages of 14 while enjoy the book. This book has a great deal of thought put into it, which then forces the reader to also think. It is not the type of book to just be blah blah blah; this is the story, whatever. But it is the type of book that once you have read it, as the reader, you come out of it with a moral lesson, a life lesson and a new outlook on the things around you, and the way things work. Especially, it brings into focus the hunger for power. Though everyone in the world wants peace and equality, for the very reasons that is stated in the book, that will not be achieved. Someone, or a group of people will always want power, and this book is really good in bringing that fact forward. All in all, it is an amazing book, and once you pick it up, honestly, you do not want to put it down!

Ogii Review of: Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

The MetamorphosisThe Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing book! Great concept and well written. The way this story was written didn’t have the normal expectations that a reader would expect from the characters reactions, therefore, this is not a flaw of the book, but something that adds to how great it is! The fact that the main character doesn’t really feel any different because they have always in a way felt that way truly is amazing! The way in which that concept was expressed was also great! Throughout the story, personally I was baffled by the reactions of the other characters, however, if they were any different, the story would have ruined have ruined itself! The ending was good, expected in a way, but also not expected! A great book!

Ogii Reivew of: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Hercule Poirot #4)The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book! It is clever and has the reader thinking the whole time. The different clues and then the way in which Poirot actually solves the crime is quiet genius! Though, once reading the book, one realises that the person who did it is actually quiet obvious! For me personally, there was some suspicion about that person, there was clues at the beginning which gave him away, but then the way in which the book is written makes the reader ignore those clues and focus on others, which in the end, seem rather ridiculous to focus on. All in all, a great book, very interesting to read. I couldn’t put it down once I started! I just had to know what the end result was going to be!
