Ogii Review of: Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

This book utterly annoyed me. From beginning to end, Nora’s decisions were completely stupid and could be handled in a much better way. It’s like she never steps back to see it from someone else’s perspective. She jumped to rash conclusions and decisions. Honestly, many parts in the book I believe could have been left out, they seemed unnecessary and just a waste of time. However, saying that, they were used very well in order to creative suspense and angst. So that was good. I love this series, I have since I started reading Hush Hush. The beginning of the book started out good, but towards the middle-end, this just grew ridiculous. It was honestly a chore reading some of the chapters. Some parts, for example, the part of the burning feathers, annoyed me to a high level. I never knew that Nora’s stupidity could grow even more. But thank god, once they got to the scene where the dual was going to happen, the story become interesting again. Though, the way in which Scott died, could have been avoided. Why did both Nora and Scott not attack at the same time?! Nora’s reaction times in these situations was very slow and irritating. But all in all, I liked the book, except for some key point which could have turned out better. Great writing though. Descriptions were very nice.

Ogii Review of: Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford

Suicide NotesSuicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and easy read. It had humor, emotion and a good plot. The way in which things panned out was great. I really liked the fact that the character was a teenager, because honestly this point of view on these types of situations aren’t done enough, and also don’t have enough light shone on them. The reactions of the characters to different things were very realistic. I liked that. The way in which Jerr responds to being in the hospital is great. The way in which he evolves and learns from his experiences is good too. Good read, especially because it has both a comical and serious side.

Ogii Review of: Rapture by Lauren Kate

Rapture (Fallen, #4)Rapture by Lauren Kate
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I love the Fallen Series! I loved this book! However, this book has really disappointed me. It started off good, and was still good right until the end. Once Luce was thrown out of Lucifer’s Announcer at the end of the book, things just went downhill for me. I really did not like the ending. I wanted them to keep fighting for their love as angel. Like seriously! Luce had just got her wings back! But then again, I always wanted Luce and Cam to end up together. Therefore, though for me, it’s not the desired ending, which might fall on the fact that I love eternal happy ending, it was still a good ending. Looking at it at an overall perspective, if it had ended any other way; it would have ruined the entire book, or probably even the entire series. All in all, I loved the book. I was so glad that Luce and Daniel got to spend nearly all of the time together, especially after the last book where Daniel was constantly chasing her. They’re a very cute couple. The events in the book were also very suspenseful and action filled which I loved. Even if at times, Luce’s hesitation to do certain things I found annoying, but it really did make the book and kept the reader focused and really drawn into the story. The way in which Luce’s past was revealed; I believe was done in an excellent way! I really liked the story of her past lives, also of her very first original one. The whole plot with Lucifer in her original life, I loved the best. To know what happened between them, and then to understand why everything has happened. Then also to see a different side of Lucifer. It was just amazing! I really loved this book! In a way I’m glad the series ended because I finally got to know everything, but then there’s this feeling that I have that wishes it didn’t; so that I could continue the story of their love for eternity! Love it! Loved it! Loved it! Amazing! Well Written!

Ogii Review of: The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The Hound of the BaskervillesThe Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book. To be honest, at the beginning of the book, it gave me chills. I was really scared while reading it at night before bed. Which is a good thing. It’s great to find a book which the author has written so well that it really evokes pure emotion from the reader. The story-line was great, very interesting. Though towards the end of the story, I thought there would be a different explanation, a more scientific one, but there wasn’t. Having said that, the ending was still very good. The idea behind the whole thing was very creative. Good book.

Ogii Review of: Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. The alibi was absolutely genius! The way in things were investigated and found are truly amazing! It is such an amazing book! So interesting! It keeps the reader absorbed at all times, never allowing them to put the book down. The mini stories within the main story were also great! The way in which one thing lead to another. Spectacular! The way that love contributed to the crime was beautiful! It really shows the lengths that individuals would go through for the person that they love. All in all, great book, I really enjoyed it.

Ogii Review of: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

The Bell JarThe Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. It’s different from most other books that I have read. I really enjoyed how as the reader you could really get into the mind of Esther Greenwood. As the reader, you were able to see things from her point of view, but also at the same time, see it from an outsiders point of view, which to me is very important for a book of this type. The way in which people treated Esther before they found out about her depression and after they found out are very well portrayed. The way that the characters distance themselves or try to be more helpful then they should be. Or, in the case of Buddy Willard, who outright says; “I wonder who you’ll marry now, Esther Now you’ve been, here.” The ‘here’ being the asylum. Which is exactly the real response that people would have towards her if she is released. It is a known fact that people, individuals, do not react to what they do not know very well. They tend to ignore, criticise, attack, or defame what is a foreign concept to them, or in some cases, it is something that they fear. Therefore, with depression, it is a common thought from individuals who do not understand, or have not experienced it themselves or seen someone else, to respond in a harsh, insulting or inconsiderate manner to a person who they have found to have depression. I believe that this story portrays all the right themes and views, such as; pain, rebirth (as an individual), expectations, the way in which people with depression are dealt with, and also the role of women at the time (i believe it is the 1950’s). Great book. Written very well. I really enjoyed it.

Ogii Review of: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Romeo and JulietRomeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Alright. I liked it. Not my favourite though. I honestly thought it was quiet predictable to be honest. It’s well written. It was a good book to read, I had to read it for my english class in year 9. For a quick fun read, this would be the one to pick up. This play is also a prime example for the people out there that always say that young love is nothing, and that young people don’t really know what love is, and love this play, that really, young love is really important. If I remember correctly, I may be wrong, but Juliet was 13 and Romeo was 16, either wait, they were in their teen years. Look what happened with them, and this is now one of the most famous, if not the most famous love story in history. The tragic love story of the two young birds. Young love affects a person a lot more then any other. So yeah, good play, I liked it. Fun read.

Ogii Review of: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Wuthering HeightsWuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Honestly, even though this is a classic and loved by many, I do not love it, of even in the slightest bit like it. I could not wait for this book to end while I was reading it. I did not enjoy the story line at all. I found it very boring. The whole love story is quiet stupid in my opinion. Everything that was happening was ridiculous in my view. Maybe it’s just not my type of story. I like to be intrigued and captivated, and this book just did not do that for me. Other then the story line, this book is very well written. So that was a bonus while reading it.

Ogii Review of; Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons WhyThirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I…I am just speechless about this book. I honestly don’t have words to describe it properly, but I’ll try. It was amazing, insightful, interesting, captivating, suspenseful, intense, surprising and just a great book. I love the way in which the story is played out. I couldn’t if I tried, think of a better way to express this story. It is written so well! It is truly eye opening. Youth depression is not something that is taken very seriously, especially with the fact that most people believe it’s just them being teenagers, rebellious or just hormonal. However, 1 in 5 young adults experience extreme depression. I think this book really highlights those factors which need to be emphasised extremely to everyone. The way in which the young girls sees things and experiences it is quiet insightful. It shows a lot of depth and understanding into minds of young adults and how they deal with things. How for them, because they are so young, people just believe that they should get over it, when actually that is the wrong thing. They need to know that someone cares about them and is there for them, and this book really explores that concept brilliantly. I really loved this book. I think everyone should read it!

Ogii Review of; The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-TimeThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Honestly, this book bored the hell out of me. I didn’t like it and the whole time I was reading it, I just wanted it to finish. I’m pretty sure that I fell asleep during one point at the beginning of the book. I understand the point of view that the story was written from, and therefore it was in a form which seemed like a child wrote the book, but I didn’t enjoy it. It is a children’s book, so therefore it has to be simple, but it is also for mature readers. Also, I predicted everything that was going to happen, therefore there was no sort of suspense or drive to continue reading in order to fuel the need to know what was going to happen next. Things in the book could have been handled better, and honestly, they would have been in real life. So therefore they should have been since the book is set with proper facts. I didn’t enjoy the book, but other might.
